Terms of Use

By reading arthur-newman.com you accept the terms below. They are deliberately short.

What this site is

A free publication about consumer and business technology, with a section of game reviews. It sells nothing and takes no affiliate commission. “Arthur Newman” is the name of the site; it is not a byline and no individual is credited here. Articles are dated reports, not buying advice.

Not security or professional advice

Nothing here is security, legal or financial advice for your situation. Articles about spyware, surveillance or account theft describe how something works in general; they cannot tell you whether a specific device or account has been compromised. If something has gone wrong, go to the platform’s own support and, where money or safety is involved, the police.

The frame-time table

It is arithmetic: a frame rate divided into a second, and a refresh rate divided by a frame rate. The judder column assumes v-sync and a fixed refresh rate, and does not describe a variable-refresh panel inside its range. It says nothing about whether any particular machine can reach a rate.

Accuracy

We try to be accurate and we correct mistakes when they are pointed out, but the site is provided as it is, without warranty. Technology writing dates faster than any other kind: much of this archive is from 2022, when several of the products described were announcements rather than shipping products. Check the date on the article.

Trade marks, other sites and reuse

Product and company names are the trade marks of their owners and are used here for reporting and identification only; no association or endorsement is implied in either direction. Links leave this site and we do not control what is on the other end. Quote a paragraph with a link back and we are happy; ask first at [email protected] before republishing a whole article.
